Dual Rocker Switch Selection Starts With Box Space
TM-7 uses a decorator-style rectangular opening, so it should be ordered with the correct single-gang wallplate. It should not be treated like a two-gang switch set, and it should not be used as a 3-way control unless the project specifies a different combination switch type. If the project needs two-location control, review Combination Single Pole and 3-Way Switch instead. For finished installations, pair this SKU with Standard Single-Gang Decorator-Style Wallplates.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why choose TM-7 instead of two separate rocker switches?
Choose TM-7 when the project needs two independent switch controls but only one single-gang wall opening is practical. It can reduce wall changes in bathroom, hotel, apartment, and retrofit work where adding a two-gang box would increase labor or disturb finished surfaces.
Does this dual rocker switch need a special wallplate?
No custom two-opening plate is needed. TM-7 fits a standard single-gang decorator-style rectangular wallplate. The common mistake is assuming that two rockers require a two-gang plate. The device is stacked inside one decorator-style opening.
Can TM-7 control a bathroom fan and light?
It can be used for that type of layout when the fan and light loads fit the device rating and the wiring method matches the project. Buyers should confirm the motor or fan load rating before specifying TM-7 for exhaust fan control, especially in repeated apartment or hotel orders.
Can the two rockers be fed by separate circuits?
Do not assume that without checking the actual device. Split-circuit use depends on the break-off fin, terminal layout, product marking, and project wiring plan. If the two loads are on different circuits, confirm the device construction and local code requirements before ordering or installation.
Is TM-7 a 3-way or multi-location switch?
No. TM-7 should be treated as two single pole rocker switches in one device body unless the product documentation states another function. It is not the right choice when either load must be controlled from two wall locations.
What should buyers check before adding TM-7 to a bulk order?
Check the number of loads, feed configuration, box fill, wallplate style, color schedule, and whether fan or motor loads are involved. Also confirm UL/cUL listing, UL file number E327438, UL 20 coverage, 120/277V rating, wiring method, and self-grounding clip details.
Where Combination Rocker Switches Solve Retrofit Constraints
Bathroom Fan & Light
Controls two single pole loads from one device, often used for separate bathroom fan and light switching.
15A · 120/277V · Dual Rocker
Hotel Vanity Areas
Useful where one wall point needs two nearby controls, such as vanity lighting and entry-area lighting.
Single-Gang · 7 Colors · Retrofit
Apartment Retrofits
Helps add two switch functions without changing the finished wall to a two-gang opening.
Space-Saving · Single-Gang · UL 20
Commercial Restrooms
Supports compact switching for two loads in restroom or service-area layouts. Confirm fan or motor rating before use.

Wiring Notes for Common Feed and Split-Circuit Checks
5-Step Quick Dual Rocker Wiring Guide
For standard mechanical dual rocker combination switches only. Confirm whether the project uses a common feed or a split-circuit feed before installation.
- Power Off & Confirm the Loads: Turn off the breaker, verify the box is de-energized with a voltage tester or multimeter, and identify the two loads controlled by the top and bottom rockers.
- Check Feed Configuration: Determine whether the switch will use one common feed or two separate feeds. For split-circuit use, confirm the break-off fin and terminal markings on the actual device before wiring.
- Identify Line, Load, and Ground: Locate the incoming feed conductor, the two switched-load conductors, and the grounding conductor. Keep any neutral splice handled according to the project wiring method and product instructions.
- Connect Feed, Loads, and Ground: Connect the feed and two switched-load conductors to the marked terminals for the top and bottom rockers, then connect the bare copper or green grounding conductor to the Green grounding terminal.
- Mount With a Single-Gang Wallplate: Fold wires neatly into the box, mount the dual rocker switch, install a standard single-gang decorator-style wallplate, restore power, and test each rocker separately.
